Who We Are

Step into the Barony of Twin Moons and let your adventure into the Current Middle Ages begin!

The Barony of Twin Moons is a local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA) in Arizona, known throughout the Society as the Kingdom of Atenveldt. Serving the East Valley communities of Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Gilbert, San Tan Valley, and Apache Junction, we are a community where martial traditions take center stage, with a strong focus on archery and combat, and balanced by a love of medieval arts.

The SCA is a non-profit organization that brings the Middle Ages to life. While the SCA began with a focus on medieval Europe, today we welcome people interested in the history and cultures of societies from around the world.

Whether you come to Twin Moons for the challenge of combat, the precision of archery, the creativity of the arts and sciences, or simply the fellowship of a community brought together by a love of history, there is a place for you here! Become part of a community where history is something we do, not simply something we study.

Our focus within the Society

Community – Find Your People

  • Weekly gatherings, fighter practice, workshops, and social activities
  • Signature events including MidEast Feast, Archery Summit, and Border Wars
  • Camping, feasting, and other opportunities to build friendships and community
  • A welcoming place to meet people who share your interests in history, creativity, and adventure

Education – Make History by Hand

  • Classes, demonstrations, and hands-on projects exploring medieval arts and sciences
  • Try your hand at skills such as sewing, fiber arts, jewelry making, calligraphy, cooking, brewing, metalwork, and more
  • Share your knowledge and talents through classes, demonstrations, and group projects

Recreation – Live the Dream

  • Explore armored combat, rapier, archery, and other martial activities
  • Hone your skills alongside experienced participants in a supportive community
  • Create your own medieval persona and participate in tournaments, courts, feasts, camping events, and other activities
