Monthly populace meetings and weekly fighter practices are a great way to meet members of our group and learn about local events.

Arts and Sciences

Members of the SCA study and recreate the diverse arts, crafts, preforming arts, and pastimes of pre-17th century history. Altogether we refer to this as the study of Arts and Sciences. Many events feature classes, workshops and demos where you can learn for yourself.

Armored and Rapier Combat

Armored combat in the SCA resembles medieval foot tournaments. Combatants can face each other in single combat in tournaments or can take part in large melee battles with dozens or even hundreds of combatants on each side.
SCA Rapier Combat is our attempt to recreate the style of unarmored combat that took place from the medieval period to 1600 A.D. Participants engage in this sport for fun and fitness! Many also study the extant manuals and theories of combat from that time period, in order to more accurately recreate the style of pre-17th century swordfighting.

Archery, Combat Archery, and Thrown Weapons

SCA archersuse materials and methods available to period archers. This includes a focus on natural materials such as wood and feathers in our bows and arrows. Archers use recurve bows, crossbows, and longbows. In addition to archery target competition, you can find additional target weapons styles at many Society events. Particiants throw common medieval weapons such as axes, knives, and spears at solid wood targets.
