Greetings unto the Populace of the Shire of Burning Sands!
Below are the notes from our Populace Meeting on June 24, 2023.

Exchequer

• Lord Mihil has checking if possible to write a check directly to the company to order rapier loaner gear for action.

A&S

• Suggested having a period potluck gathering for Shire members on a date sometime in September as things cool down. Each member would bring a period dish of their choosing. Coordination of dishes may be warranted, more info to come. Treason has offered his collection of Roman recipes for use.
• Suggested to have a group project for making some kind of gift as tax to TRM. Feel free to submit ideas to asminister@burningsands.atenveldt.org
• The Minister of A&S Lord Mihil has requested a page of each shireling’s persona history.
• Suggested to have a music night gathering for individuals interested in practicing their musical talents together.

Archery

• July 1st, 2023 practice to start at 8AM. Plenty of loaner gear is available for those who do not have their own. Remember to bring water! For more details including location, see the post on the Shire webpage here: https://www.atenveldt.org/burningsands/july-1-2023-archery-practice/
• A purchase of an arrow catching backdrop was brought up, bids will be gathered for financial committee review at the next populace meeting.

Chatelaine

• Advertising flyers and business card designs were presented, the only dissension being on the aged populace photo used. Plans to renew this photo are set for sometime in October on a date most or all can agree on. Details to come in a future meeting.

Rapier

• Fighters must have their own gear to receive authorization.
• Loaner gear purchase is in the works. More details to come.

Seneschal

• A suggestion for a demo tournament was discussed with a tentative date in October in mind.
• A monthly weeknight A&S class was discussed, details to come in a future populace meeting.
• Two Rivers Renaissance Faire is occurring Feb 3rd-5th, 2024 in Yuma. For once this does not clash with the Kingdom war providing the Shire a great opportunity for recruitment if we can obtain a booth for advertising and demos. Sir Eugene has reaching out to the Renn Faire company for action, more details to come at a future populace meeting.
• Suggestion to bring back the Shire newsletter was made. Further discussion on details to come at a future meeting.
• The Seneschal Sir Eugene has requested testimonials from any and all who wish to have their’s posted on the Shire webpage for the purpose of helping recruitment efforts. A testimonial can include a short 2-3 sentence description of how you came to be a member of the Shire or SCA as a whole and/or your experience with either or both.
