Join the Shire of Burning Sands Saturday, June 13th, 2026, 1pm at the Yuma Main Library for a hands-on introduction to medieval period dance where we will learn dances of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. This workshop is designed for absolute beginners and experienced dancers alike and will be taught by Kenjin of the Mountains of Elsrum, a local chapter of Amtgard.
What will be covered:
- Basic Footwork: Learn the foundational steps used in renaissance and medieval period dance.
- Social Dances: We will walk through popular favorites like the Korobushka and a few other English Country dances.
- Courtly Grace: Discover the difference between high-energy folk dances and formal courtly movement.
What to bring:
- Clothing: Period garb is strongly encouraged if you have it. However, comfortable, modern clothing and flat shoes (sneakers or jazz shoes) are welcome if you don’t, too.
- Water: Stay hydrated!
Cost: This event is free and open to the public. No partner is necessary to participate.
