Shire of Burning Sands: Sun, Sand, and Swords Event: January 7, 2023
Bring out your dead, bring out your dead! The end of the plague is nigh! Come to the Shire of Burning Sands to the park for a day of relaxation.
Hard suit fighting will be two-handed weapons or large shields and sword…(social distancing and all that) in a Bearpit format. Most kills wins.
We will provide room for rapier however there is no rapier tournament planned as we do not have local authorized fighters or marshalls at this time. Though we are working towards some local fighters.
Calling all Medicus, surgeons, dentists, herbalists, and other users of the medical arts to display their works of healing.
A Silent Auction will be held with stuff donated by members of the shire. Soup and food provided by members of the populace.
There will also be a dessert, plague themes please, competition. So along with your dead, bring out your best desserts!
There are Stone Privies and water on site. Shade will be provided by the ramada and pop ups; no staking is allowed. Site is dry. Come out and enjoy a fun day and stay for the war practice the next day.

Directions: Coming from East of Welton on I-8 W, you can take Exit 37 to Old US 80 and head West into Welton, turning right (North) onto Dome St., or you can go to Exit 30 onto William St. headed North, turning left (East) on Los Angeles Ave which becomes Old US 80 then turn left (North) onto Dome St.
Either way, once on Dome St. Butterfield Park will be on the left, enter through the main gate and follow the road to the end with a large parking lot by the Golf course.
When staying for Southern War Practice the next day, there is one hotel in Welton: Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Wellton
More hotels (and restaurants) can be found in Fortuna Foothills 20 mins from site, or in Yuma 30 mins from site.
