Baronial Polling announcement:
Also, at the Too Hot Event, the Crown, Crown Heirs, and Kingdom Seneschal will be polling for the Heirs of the Barony of Ered Sul. The reign of Baron Nilstr and Baroness Margre is coming to a close and they are looking to pass their leadership onto a new Baron and Baroness of the Barony of Ered Sul. To that end, we would ask that any interested parties submit their letters of intent to meet the following requirements:
Baronial candidates must be current paid members, and must receive their Southwind or have an SCA membership in a Zip Code belonging to the Barony in which they reside.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
Candidates must have Letters of Intent in the hands of the Crown, the Kingdom Seneschal and the Baron and Baroness no later than one month prior to the polling date. Letters should be written with the understanding that (if accepted by the Crown), the letters will be published in the Baronial newsletter for the populace to review prior to the polling, and will be available to the populace on the day of the polling. No personal information will be included in the LOI published nor presented for review.
Candidates must include the below information in their Letter of Intent:
Full contact information, including SCA and modern names, addresses, phone numbers, email, and membership numbers and expiration date
Their reasons for seeking the position
Their history of participation in the SCA and the Barony in which they reside
Their plans for the future of the group
Their understanding of the responsibilities of the position of the Baronage
Their statement that they are willing to be installed with their preference of either two or a three-year warrant in the position, and understand their Letter of Intent will be published in the baronial newsletter if their candidacy is accepted by the Crown.
If you do not have a membership address in a zip code assigned to the polling barony, but identify yourself as a member of the polling barony, you may sign a special zip code exception pledge form. The pledge form simply states that you consider yourself a member of the polling barony and promise the Crown of Atenveldt that you will not cast a ballot in any other baronial polling for the duration of the term of service of the prospective Baronage should they be invested.
Virtual polling will be held one week prior to the event, Too Hot, starting June 1, 2025 at 6 AM and closing on June 6, 2025 at 6 PM. In person polling will be conducted on June 7, 2025, and will begin directly following the end of opening court at Too Hot and will remain open for two hours after. Please bring proof of membership and a picture ID.
Questions about these Guidelines should be directed to the Crown (crown@atenveldt.org) or the Kingdom Seneschal (seneschal@atenveldt.org)
