Due to extreme heat for court night, we have a new competition format for this month\u2019s heavy tournament:
ANSWER the CALL!!
When armies march upon our lands, fighters must respond quickly. They must don harness and prepare for battle with haste but not forsake completeness or safety.
To test these skills, Their Excellencies Ra\u2019id and Morgaine have granted me the honor of presenting this competition on Wednesday August 26 (yes tomorrow) at Barony of Atenveldt practice. Fighters shall complete for the best overall score as a combination of time, demerits, and bonus points.
Round 1:
Fighters shall be positioned a short distance from the fighting Eric. They are to have their typical tournament weapons, shield, and armor. Armor shall be left in its transport device and closed (shut\/zipped\/snapped, etc.).
Fighters may have a chair to use for arming.
Fighters may have ONE assistant to help them arm, but that assistant MAY NOT carry anything to the Eric, nor may they be more than 3 steps from the arming spot.
All fighters shall begin arming at the same time – with a Judge calling the start.
Once armed, fighters are to present themselves to the marshal in the Eric for inspection. Time will stop for the fighter when they enter the Eric.
Marshal shall inspect and assess demerits (if any) for items such as incomplete buckling, incorrectly tightened straps, ties that are too loose for good safety, lack of lanyard in position, etc.
Fighters MAY gain bonus points for impressing onlookers \/ Judges \/ Excellencies. One might tell a story while arming, sing a period or SCA song while arming, move with panache, add a flourish wherever you think you can. Flying will gain extreme points.
Round 2:
Fighters will be paired in SOFT ROX battle. Single elimination bracket. Points awarded for wins in the pairings.
Round 3:
Timed round for armor down AND PACK to the state in which the competition was begun.
There are no bonus points available.
Demerits will be assessed for not returning your kit to the original state.
Foul language will gain demerits in any round. If you must curse be CREATIVE.
