KINGDOM SENESCHAL (Open until 10/15/2008)

The Kingdom Seneschal will be stepping down at November Coronation.  In accordance with Kingdom Law, the Crown of Atenveldt is seeking qualified applicants for this Great Officer position.

The Kingdom Seneschal serves as the chief administrative officer of the realm and reports directly to the Society Seneschal and Crown of Atenveldt.  Major duties include (but are not limited to):

  1. Maintain Kingdom Law and administer changes in Kingdom Law
  2. Advise the Crown on Kingdom Law and Corpora
  3. Call meetings, require reports, and oversee events necessary for the proper functioning of the Kingdom
  4. Administer procedures involving the recognition of new branches and status changes of all existing branches
  5. Monitor existing branches for compliance with Society and Kingdom guidelines
  6. Ultimate responsibility for the creation of an official Kingdom Calendar of events, and the solicitation of bids for Kingdom events.
  7. Ultimate responsibility for all Kingdom and inter-kingdom events, including the signing of all legal documents and contracts
  8. Serve as chair of the Kingdom Financial Committee
  9. Invoke and administer sanctions against local groups and individuals as necessary

A more thorough and complete understanding of the job duties may be obtained by consulting the Society Seneschal’s handbook and Kingdom Law.

The ideal candidate for this position will be:

  1. Well versed in the governing documents of the Society and Kingdom
  2. Have previous experience as an officer either at a local or Kingdom level
  3. Must have email and phone access
  4. Able to travel throughout the Kingdom to attend events and meetings.
  5. Competent working with Word and Excel Documents
  6. Skilled in management
  7. Able to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and personalities
  8. Able to complete their assigned tasks on time as many duties associated with this position often have critical deadlines

In addition to the above, the Kingdom Seneschal is often privy to extremely sensitive information.  In light of this, the individual appointed must be discreet and respect the confidential nature of information provided to them by the Crown and other officers.

KINGDOM CHRONICLER (OPEN UNTIL SEPT 1)

The Kingdom Chronicler will be stepping down from her office effective Oct 31, 2008. In accordance with Kingdom Law, the Crown of Atenveldt is now seeking qualified applicants for this Great Office position.

The Chronicler position requires great attention to detail and is VERY deadline oriented.  Previous editing experience would be very helpful.  Previous desktop publishing experience is almost a must - especially experience with Microsoft Publisher.  Primary duties include the publishing of the Southwind on a monthly basis, as well as a special Arts and Science edition and Kingdom Law edition as required by Kingdom Law. Other duties include serving as a member of the Kingdom Financial Committee, , and assisting local chroniclers with their needs and tracking the reporting from said chroniclers.  Other duties can be found under Kingdom Law.

As a Greater Kingdom Officer and member of the Kingdom Financial Committee, the Kingdom Chronicler is often privy to sensitive information. The individual selected for this position must be discreet and respect the confidential nature of information provided to them from the Crown, Kingdom Seneschal and Kingdom Financial Committee.

Deputy Kingdom Exchequer Book Review (2 Openings Open Till Filled)
Be responsible for ensuring a review of each branch’s books within the Kingdom is conducted at least once every two years, and that a mandatory review of a branch’s books is conducted whenever the branch office changes hands.
Responsibilities for the Deputy Kingdom Exchequer (Local Financial Reviews) shall minimally be:

a. Maintaining a checklist of items to examine during a local group financial review that confirms group compliance with Exchequer policies and procedures, reconciliation of bank statements to Exchequer reports and local group financial records, and compliance with signator, bank account, and tax guidelines.

b. Ensuring that all group Exchequers and Seneschals have a current copy of the financial review checklist.

c. Creating and publishing a twelve-month schedule for reviews of local group financial records in each January issue of Southwind.

d. Conducting local group financial reviews as defined in the published schedule, and whenever a local group exchequer position transitions to a new officer.

e. Publishing the results of a local group financial review to the local group Ruling Nobility, the local group Seneschal and Exchequer, and the Kingdom Exchequer within 30 days of completion of each review.

f. Working with the Kingdom Exchequer and local group officers to resolve/correct any items of non-compliance isolated in a local group financial review.

KINGDOM ROYAL ARCHER (OPEN UNTIL Oct 15)

The Kingdom of Atenveldt seeks a new officer to fill the position of Kingdom Royal Archer (KRA) in October 2008.  All applications are to be submitted by October 15, 2008.

The duties of the KRA are as follows:

  • Treaty Negotiations for Estrella War.  These are completed on line and computer access is required.
  • Be responsible for setting up the archery range for Estrella War.
  • Schedule and oversee the Kingdom Archery Champion Tournaments twice a year.
  • The KRA shall report quarterly to the Society Archery Marshal, the Crowns of the Kingdom and the Kingdom Earl Marshal.
  • The KRA is responsible for warranting of all Captains of Archery, Lieutenants of Archery and Range Marshals.
  • Maintain a list of Warrants for Territorial Officers and Range Marshals.
  • Enforce a system of reporting by the Captain of Archers, Lieutenants and/or Range Marshals and provide a summation of these reports to the SCA Archery Marshal and the Kingdom Earl Marshal quarterly.
  • Report to the Society Archery Marshal any archery related injuries which required professional medical treatment as well as any potentially dangerous circumstances or incidents involving archery in the kingdom and their outcome.
  • The KRA must be a paid member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.
  • The KRA must be a qualified Range Marshal in good standing in Atenveldt.

KINGDOM CHRONICLER EMERGENCY DEPUTY (OPEN UNTIL October 31)

The Kingdom Chronicler is currently seeking applications for Emergency Deputy.  The Chronicler position is very deadline oriented and requires great attention to detail.  As my Emergency Deputy you will assist me in preparing the “Southwind” monthly.  You will be responsible for ensuring the local chroniclers are supported and reporting and that all warrants are current.

 Estrella XXV Want Ads  

WANTED: Autocrats for Estrella War XXV (February 2009)
 
The management and running of Estrella War is completely done by  Volunteers and has become more complex as the event has grown. This has made it extremely important that primary autocrats for the event are able to
participate in the training of successors for their positions. For that reason, Atenveldt Kingdom Law requires the following five autocrat  positions for the War be Kingdom Offices that are advertised, filled and warranted a full year before the event: Main Autocrat, Site Autocrat, Merchants Autocrat, War Pre-Registration Autocrat, and Troll Autocrat.
 
In February 2008, HE Mistress Dascha Alexandrovna Rostova and Countess Haley Olafsdottir, were selected as Main Autocrats for Estrella War XXV (the February 2009 event). But the Kingdom is still seeking applications for the remaining four positions. The Want Ads below show the requirements for applications. Addition information

ATENVELDT LAND ALLOCATION OFFICER For ESTRELLA WAR (Open until Oct 1)

The Atenveldt Kingdom Land Allocation Officer holds a two (2) year warranted position responsible for the management of land for the Kingdom of Atenveldt at Estrella War.  This officer must be able to track land usage and needs as well as communicate effectively with all groups within our Kingdom regarding their land needs for Estrella War

This is a time intensive position and will require the officer to be able to communicate and coordinate many different groups as well as track land usage and needs for future wars.  Some war experience is important. Management, long-term planning, organizational and computer skills are essential.  Previous experience with land management would be helpful.  The Atenveldt Land Allocation Officer’s commitment to the event would begin upon appointment and continue until all issues relating to that office for the Event in question are resolved.

ESTRELLA WAR XXV MERCHANT AUTOCRAT

The War Merchant Autocrat holds a warranted position responsible forThe management of all aspects of Merchants Row for Estrella. This officer must be able to negotiate and manage Merchant services, coordinate with the Site Autocrat, Pre-Registration, Parking, War Security and all other Event Sub-autocrats. Further, this officer must be able to manage a number of deputies and volunteers The position is very demanding, requiring intense effort and time. Some War experience is important. Management, long-term planning, organizational And computer skills are essential. Merchant experience would be very helpful. The Estrella War Merchant Autocrat’s commitment to the event would begin upon appointment and continue until all issues relating to that office for the Event in question are resolved.

ESTRELLA WAR XXV PRE-REG AUTOCRAT
The War Pre-Registration Autocrat holds a warranted position  responsible for advance admissions registration, site fee payment and waiver  collection. This officer must be able to work closely with other Event  Sub-autocrats and must be able to manage and direct deputies and volunteers. Some SCA Corporate contact may be involved.
 
The position is very demanding, requiring intense effort and time, especially during months of July through December. Management, planning  and organizational skills are essential. This officer must have computer  skills, and access to an in home workspace and equipment adequate for the tasks required of the position. The Pre-Registration Autocrat’s commitment to
the event would begin upon appointment and continue until all issues  relating to that office for the Event in question are resolved.

ESTRELLA WAR XXV SITE AUTOCRAT
The War Site Autocrat holds a warranted position responsible for the management of all aspects of the physical plant of the War Site for Estrella War XXV and providing facilities and services for all other departments.
This officer must be able work with all aspects of Site management and Security and to negotiate and manage vendor services, coordinate with Merchant Autocrat, Pre-Registration, Parking, War Security and all other Event Sub-autocrats. The position also requires constant contact and frequent meetings with the Main Autocrats. Further, this officer must
be able to manage a number of deputies and volunteers.
The position is very demanding, requiring an intense effort and time commitment over a year long period. Some Estrella War experience is a  must.  Experience with other large, multi-kingdom events might be helpful. Management, long term planning and organizational skills are essential.
The Estrella War Site Autocrat’s commitment to the Event would begin upon appointment and continue until all issues relating to that office for  the Event in question are resolved

ESTRELLA WAR XXV TROLL AUTOCRAT

The Estrella War Troll Autocrat holds a warranted position responsible For Event admissions, site fee payment and waiver collection. This officer Must be able to work closely with other Event Sub-autocrats and must be able To manage and direct large numbers of deputies and volunteers. Some SCA Corporate contact might also be necessary.

Troll is open 24 hours during most of the Event. The position is very demanding, requiring intense effort and time, especially during the first days of the War itself. Management, planning and organizational skills are essential. The Estrella Troll Autocrat’s commitment to the event would begin upon appointment and continue until all issues relating to that office for the Event in question are resolved.
